Event
of the Month - October 2007 |

As the leaves begin to change and the trees don their spectacular colors of
scarlet, gold, and orange, it's a reminder that it's time for another dazzling
event – Pizzazz 2007!
Sponsored by the Garden Club of Allegheny County for the past 12 years, it
is one of the most anticipated events of the year. The annual shopping
benefit at the Fox Chapel Golf Club, 426 Fox Chapel Road, features a remarkable
selection of boutiques from around the country. Each is carefully chosen
on the basis of quality, originality and exclusivity, with a special emphasis
on items that can't be found in Pittsburgh.
Pizzazz will be held this year on Oct. 18 and 19, with
a preview party the evening of Oct. 17. Many of the 30 boutiques will be making an encore appearance,
including Indo Chic, Caroline's Cakes and Cuffs from Chagrin Falls. Pizzazz
is pleased to welcome 12 new vendors, offering shoppers everything from luxurious
handbags to upscale children's clothing and chocolate almond brittle. It's
a great way to get a start on holiday shopping or find a special gift for that
hard-to-buy-for person on your list.
Pizzazz is the garden club's major fundraiser, and the proceeds are awarded
as grants. To date, more than $370,000 has been given to support conservation
and educational programs across the area. Knowing that a percentage of
every dollar spent at Pizzazz goes directly to the club's efforts to improve
our environment makes shopping for such exquisite merchandise that much more
enjoyable.
Hours for Pizzazz 2007 are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 9:30 a.m. to
4 p.m. on Oct. 19. A buffet lunch prepared by the club's renowned kitchen
is available both days from 11 to 2:30 by calling 412-741-7114 for reservations.
Admission is $5 at the door, free for benefactors, patrons or sponsors. More
information about the event can be found online at pizzazzpgh.org or by calling
Cindy at 412-741-7114.
